My favorite saint is St. Whatshisname - the patron saint of everyday, overlooked miracles. Even though they (like their anonymous saint) are unrecognized and underappreciated, they're still miraculous.
I’m honest about what I feel and what I don’t feel.
I’m not truly opinionated, but I’ll discuss/debate/argue anything to chase down ideas. My conservative friends claim I’m liberal; my liberal friends claim I’m conservative; I claim I’m open minded and need to think out loud.
Truth be told, I'm undergoing a leftward drift.
Somehow, fighting “to make the world safe for hypocrisy” lacks a Wilsonian ring.
Also, I wouldn't mind seeing gov't move from the bedroom to the boardroom.
I have moral convictions, not felony convictions.
I know what the meaning of the word "is" is.
I’m always interested in going someplace new and/or doing something I’ve never done before. (Well, at least usually. There’re some things I’ve never done for a reason).
I can walk on water (when it’s frozen), leap over tall bar stools (with a running start and favorable tail winds), and when the wind is southerly, I can tell a hawk from a handsaw. I don’t think I’ll ever be called upon to do so. But if I am, then hopefully the winds will be favorable.
I can be silly & serious.
I know that sometimes you have to do what you don't know how to say.
I know shiatsu.
I can listen to what's said & to what's left unsaid.
Small children like me and they're excellent judges of character. Then again, maybe they just like the juggling and balloon animals.
Of course, many have also, independently, declared me 'silly'.... I don't know why.
Then again, after deciding in very short time period to move to El Paso (long story), I think I may understand.
Well, if this makes any sense I’d be surprised. Heck, if you've read this far, I'm surprised. Hopefully, I've managed to spark rather than quell an interest.
My Ideal Person:
Potter Stewart once said “I know it when I see it”, but I think he was talking about something else….
Hmmm... it seems I've said tons more about myself than you. My only excuse is that I know me & haven't met you yet.
- The last great book I read
Guns, Germs & Steel - Jared Diamond
The Harry Potter Books - JK Rowling
Next of Kin - Roger Fouts
Sarantine Mosaic -Guy Kay
Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell - Susanna Clarke
First Contact - Connolly & Andersen(Fun book about New Guinea Highlanders first encountering Europeans in the 1930's and then going from Stone Age to Modern Age in about a decade or so)
- My most humbling moment
When I was 14 & accidentally told my friends 80 year old grandmother she was sexy. The lesson learned - when your friend says something to his grandmother in Italian, if you don't know that language, DON'T try to repeat what he said.
- Favorite on-screen sex scene
Pierce Brosnan & Renee Russo - Thomas Crown Affair
- The best or worst lie I've ever told
When I was a kid, I hated having grown-ups ask "What do you want to be when you grow up?", since I invariably felt condescended to in the conversations that would follow. Then I discovered no adult ever wanted to hear a 9 year old boy explain why he wanted to become.... a gynecologist.
- Five items I can't live without
Newspapers
Chocolate
Books
Trees
Ocean
- Fill in the blank: _____ is sexy; _____ is sexier.
clever conversation is sexy; honest conversation is sexier!
- In my bedroom one will find...
Me, my bed, lots of books & some feral dust bunnies.
