You should know right off that I'm an academic dork. But, a cute academic dork. And in the university, surrounded by other academic dorks? Well, I'd have to say I'm pretty hip. But it's all relative. Or situated, as we say.
One thing I've learned about myself after all these years is that I connect with people first on an intellectual level, and then build from there. I love words and ideas and communicating -- both talking and writing. I'm a great listener, and can be a pretty entertaining talker, too. I love making people laugh. I'm professional, responsible, thoughtful, understanding, compassionate, and playful. I'm in shape and love getting out in the mountains to hike. I love children, and I really hope to have my own some day -- but only with the right partner.
I'm a flaming liberal with a strong commitment to social justice and the environment, but I'm not ready to give up my condo and car (a Subaru, of course) and chicken sandwich habit for a yurt and a compostable outhouse and a vegan diet. I guess you could say I have a suburban sensibility and a radical ideology. Such a dilemma! I'm looking for a committed relationship -- I'm ready to settle down and build a life together with the right person.
My Ideal Person:
I hope to meet someone who's fantastically intelligent, strong, passionate about something (whatever it is), committed to some sort of career path (whatever it is), optimistic (with a healthy dose of cynicism), responsible, creative, fit and active, curious, self-motivated, politically progressive. I'm generally drawn to driven, motivated, ambitious kinds of people.
